TABEC

Sixth TransAtlantic Business Ethics Conference (TABEC)

This Workshop is a continuation of the Transatlantic Business Ethics Summit, an invitational conference. The objectives of the TransAtlantic Business Ethics Conference are to:

  • encourage dialogue between North American and European scholars in business ethics on topics of current interest and debate;
  • create an ongoing framework to continue these Conferences on a biennial basis;
  • publish selected papers presented at the conference.

The goal is to bring together, in a workshop setting, a small group of leading North American and European business ethics scholars whose work is focused on corporate governance. Participants will examine ethics and the assessment of financial risk, executive compensation, government regulation versus voluntary self regulation, the ethical obligations of corporate boards and board members, the ethical responsibilities of corporate boards under conditions of globalization and a range of other related issues.

The host and organizer for the sixth conference is the Canadian Business Ethics Research Network with the support of the newly formed Centre for Responsible Business at the Schulich School of Business, York University.

The primary obligation of conference participants is to present a paper on the conference theme at the conference itself. The proceedings of this workshop will be published in book format by international publisher Edward Elgar. Wesley Cragg, the workshop organizer, will also guest-edit a special issue of the Journal of Business Ethics on Corporate Governance. Workshop participants will revise their papers to submit to the journal for a peer-review process.
