Me in Brief
My research and teaching interests are focused on the notions of practical wisdom at the individual level. I take a close look at moral judgement relying on a set of theories that are not mainstream (ethics as expertise in the words of American philosopher Hubert Dreyfus or as immediate know-how as Francisco Varela put it in his last works). These notions are easy to link to Aristotle's phronesis and philautia.
I try and teach students to become better phronimoi; I empirically try and test ways to help managers become aware of their own phronesis, gain confidence in their moral decision-making abilities, in their capacities to listen to others' values, and in their resulting capacity to disarm potentially deep and harmful conflicts in the workplace before it is too late. For both my research and teaching activities, Socratic mid-wifery is a key technique.
