Northwest Ethical Investments Releases Oil Sands Report

Northwest Ethical Investments (NEI) recently released their oil sands report, Lines in the Sands (PDF 1.3MB). The report was compiled after a series of questions were sent out to thirteen oil companies, including questions that considered benchmarks in the industry like Aboriginal engagement and land use, as well as corporate disclosure.
The research, done in the hopes of educating investors about the actions of specific oil companies, was stalled by the reluctance of many companies to participate in answering the questionnaire. This reluctance prompted Northwest Ethical to note a lack of information gleaned through the benchmark exercise.
