Social Capital Partners:
Social Capital Partners (SCP) is a social venture capital organization created in 2001 with a mission to invest in and support businesses that employ members of economically challenged communities in Canada.

SCP finances companies that balance two important sets of goals.  From a business perspective, we work only with companies that strive to be competitive in the market, financially successful, and exploit opportunities for growth.  From a social perspective, we work only with companies that are providing quality employment opportunities for individuals who are experiencing employment barriers.

In essence, our social mission is to employ those who have the interest and desire to work but, due to barriers often beyond their control, have not been able to maintain employment.  Examples of groups that are employed in our portfolio companies include inner city youth, new immigrants, aboriginal Canadians, and single mothers.  These individuals often have the desire to work but might lack the networks, opportunities and support mechanisms necessary to find and maintain employment.  More often than not, these individuals simply need someone to give them a chance.

More information about SCP and the organizations we finance can be found at www.socialcapitalpartners.ca.
