Coalbed Methane 2007: Best Practices for Effective CBM Production
Tuesday, February 6 and Wednesday February 7, 2007
Telus Convention Centre, Calgary
Conference Overview
In five years, “unconventional” Coalbed methane drilling will outpace “conventional” natural gas drilling.
The demand for natural gas is increasing! Mega oil sands projects will be coming on stream over the next three to seven years, and the demand for natural gas will increase dramatically. Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) reserves and finds of conventional natural gas are declining, resulting in the growth of unconventional plays.
Don't get left behind – learn best practices in CBM production from the innovators.
CBM wells have been producing in the U.S. for almost 20 years, and now account for 9% of the U.S. natural gas production. The U.S. hasn’t grown this business without its difficulties. Stakeholders from regulators to land owners to environmentalists to investors and the companies themselves have learned essential best practices the hard way. Capitalize on this opportunity to learn from the experience of the CBM experts to ensure your CBM program’s success.
The WCSB has one of the world’s largest coal deposits.
Coalbed methane, once the nemesis of coal miners, is becoming a resource of great value. The methane gas (CH4) found in CBM reserves is much cleaner than conventional natural gas. As a result, Coalbed methane requires less processing after harvest than conventional natural gas. This is a distinct benefit, but it does come with many more stakeholder management challenges.
To tap into the WCSB’s huge Coalbed methane resources, the industry must develop and employ best practices that deal with the unique nature of CBM production, including data mining and geology specific to CBM, environmental and regulatory issues, and CBM business and production management challenges.
Meet the innovators, and share your ideas with your peers and the experts. Find out how your organization can capitalize fully on the growth of CBM production.
