Alex Michalos is currently the Director of the Institute for Social Research and Evaluation, and Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) where he teaches politics and social sciences (and has recently been named as the next Chancellor). He is also a member of the Order of Canada.

Dr. Michalos has published 18 books and over 80 refereed articles. He is the founding editor of six journals the current managing editor of the Journal of Business Ethics. Most of his scholarly work, consulting and teaching has been concerned with improving the quality of life through basic research and applications of science and technology.
