A McLaughlin College lunch talk with Pam Schwartzberg and David Bell

Pam Schwartzbergis the Executive Director of Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF: www.lsf-lst.ca) , a Canadian nonprofit organization whose mandate is to work with educators from across Canada to integrate the concepts and principles of sustainable development into the curricula in schools at all grade levels. Pam is a York alumna (MES) and a Fellow of McLaughlin College.

David Bell is one of Canada's best-known experts on sustainability. A Harvard Ph.D. graduate, the Professor Emeritus, Senior Scholar and Former Dean, Faculty of Environmental Studies, at York University. He founded the York Centre for Applied Sustainability in 1996 and was the Director until 2003. He is the former chair of the Board of Parc Downsview Park, and has published many books and articles on environmental issues. He has served as a member of the National Round Table on Environment and Economy (www.nrtee-trnee.ca) and is Chair of LSF.

Today, Schwartzberg and Bell will highlight the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development, 2005-2015. Learning for a Sustainable Future is playing a key role in coordinating the Canadian response, and leading the Ontario initiative. This talk is a sequel to Prof. Bell's talk on March 1 on climate change and sustainability.
